Is it safe to visit South Africa?

  • South Africa is seen and depicted as an uncertain country when it comes to safety, but this is not really true in most cases.

  • Just like any other big city in the world, you will find that there are some pick pocketing in the main areas where people congregate, especially Long street in Cape Town.

  • So mostly keep a watchful eye out for that.


  • When being picked up by UpRouted Tours, you will have a meet and greet at the airport or your accommodation.

  • And from there you will be in extremely safe hands.

What is the weather like in South Africa?

  • Cold and warm currents running north-west and north-east respectively account for the difference in climates between west and east coasts.


  • South Africa experiences a high degree of sunshine with rainfall about half of the global average, increasing from west to east, and with semi-desert regions in the north-west.


  • The Western Cape has a Mediterranean climate with winter rainfall, most of the country experiences summer rain.

  • Western Cape's summer is around 20C – 30C ( 68F – 86F ),

    and winter around 10C – 20C ( 50F - 68F ) on average.

Which are the best times to visit South Africa?

  • Coastal areas, like Cape Town and Garden Route, will be more popular during the spring and summer months ( September – March )

  • Interior areas, like Kruger National Park, will be more popular during the autumn and winter months. ( April – August )
