ON THE EXPLORER SAFARI, EACH DAY THE SCENERY AROUND YOU CHANGES, EACH DAY THERE'S SOMETHING NEW TO EXPERIENCE, EXPLORE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, LEARN FROM.

WE DO ALL THIS, AND SO MUCH MORE, WHILE STILL STAYING TRUE TO THE MOTTO, 'THERE'S NO RUSH IN AFRICA'


WHAT TO EXPECT:


DAY 1

CAPE TOWN - CAPE WHALE ROUTE - SOUTHERN TIP OF AFRICA 


  • Explore the Cape Whale Route, with all it's natural beauty and coastal splendour, including a stop along one of the most scenic coastal drives the Western Cape has to offer.

  • Optional visit to one of the largest successful breeding colonies of African penguin in the world (not Boulders Beach), a place where the real locals love to go.



  • Free time in Hermanus, known as 'top 10 land-based whale viewing towns in the world', during the months of August – December.

  • Here you will have the freedom to indulge in some local foods, discover little antique stores, craft markets, museums and even if your lucky, get to meet the artist at work while visiting one of the many art galleries within walking distance from each other.



  • Optional Wine Tasting overlooking a quaint and historic village.



  • Visit the Southern most tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas.



  • Overnight in Struisbaai.


  • If time allows, take a short 2min walk for a safe swim in the Indian Ocean.​​


  • Tonight for dinner your guide will lovingly prepare a Braai*

DAY 2

ROUTE 62 - LITTLE KAROO - OUDTSHOORN 


  • Traverse the famous Route 62, a semi arid desert route in the Little Karoo, known for all it's mountainous passes and scenic beauty.

  • When it comes to the landscape, it's a complete contrast to day 1.



  • Visit one of it's natural hot springs. ( not permitted during school holidays )

  • During school holidays, there's always a plan B.



  • Explore a 20 million year old, UNESCO world heritage Cango Cave system, through a guided adventure or standard tour.


  • Overnight in Oudtshoorn.

  • Tonight your guide will lovingly prepare a beautiful Potjie* for the evenings meal.

  • ( vegetarian option available )


  • *Potjie is a traditional way of preparing food, in a cast iron pot, over coals from a wood burning fire.​

DAY 3

ROUTE 62 - GARDEN ROUTE - JEFFREYS BAY 


  • Today we can build our own day with these options listed, be it adventure, nature or some culture.



  • Visit the world famous Garden Route, with it's many beautiful lagoons and estuaries, including photo stops at Knysna and Plettenberg Bay's famous look out points.


  • Optional stop at the world famous Bloukrans Bungy Bridge, for those wanting to take the plunge of the world's highest bungy bridge, measuring in at 216m.



OR

  • Optional ferry ride to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, situated on a beautiful un-spoilt headland of Knysna.

  • Included 4x4 vehicle & seated trailer drive up the headland onto reserve, stopping at spectacular viewpoints.

OR


  • Optional Township Tour in the town of Knysna.

  • Get to understand the way of life in a typical South African township, guided by a real local from the area.

  • Proceeds help to feed orphaned children from the community



  • Visit the magnificently unspoilt beaches of the Eastern Cape.

  • Optional sunset beach horse-back ride in Jeffreys Bay.



  • Overnight in Jeffrey's Bay.



  • If time allows, there can be a opportunity to take a swim in the Indian Ocean in front of accommodation.



  • Tonight's dinner is at a very famous 'surfers' restaurant in the area, known for having the best food in town.

DAY 4

ADDO NATIONAL ELEPHANT PARK - NATURES VALLEY 


  • Today we explore, in our tour vehicle, the flourishing environment of South Africa's 3rd largest National Park, the Addo Elephant National Park, where 95 mammal species, 417 bird species and many more smaller species, co-exist.


  • Average safari time: +- 5 hours

  • Optional 2 hour 4x4 open-top safari in a Addo National Park vehicle.


  • Overnight on a family run farm near Natures Valley.



  • If time allows, there can be a opportunity to walk to a giant Yellowwood tree, a hidden away waterfall on the premises, or simply just enjoy and take in the landscape from a view point called, God's window.



  • Tonight we have a organic home cooked meal, lovingly prepared by the volunteers and staff at accommodation.

DAY 5

GARDEN ROUTE - ROBBERG NATURE RESERVE - WILDERNESS 


  • This morning, to start the day, we have 3 optional extras to choose from.​

  • Visit a private beach at a river mouth, take a 2 hour circular hike with your guide to a private beach on the salt river mouth.​

OR

  • Visit reputable Animal Sanctuaries, receiving awards for best visitor experience, best animal welfare initiative as well as the overall winner of the World Responsible Tourism award

OR

  • For something more adventurous, a 2 hour Canyoning or Kloofing tour.

  • This includes ab-sailing in and around waterfalls, swimming through natural rock pools as well as doing some optional rock jumps.

( wetsuit included )

  • Visit a Nature reserve in Plettenberg Bay, for a 1 – 2 hour hike (depending on group) along the reserve, allowing opportunities to see great white sharks from land, near a Cape Fur seal colony.

  • Walk on a private secluded beach and even safely take a swim in the Indian ocean.



  • Other optionals, instead of Nature Reserve Hike, include Whale Watching from boat, Seal Snorkelling from boat ( both seasonal ) or Skydiving. ( weather dependant )


  • Overnight in Wilderness.



  • If time allows, there can be a opportunity to take a swim in the Indian Ocean in front of accommodation.


  • Tonight is pizza night at the accommodation, here you can build your own pizza from a variety of toppings available.

  • We can go out for dinner in the village.



DAY 6

WILDERNESS - CAPE TOWN 


  • Explore the ecologically diverse vegetation and un-spoilt beauty of the Garden Route, by Canoeing along the peaceful and tranquil Touw River, in the Wilderness National Park.

  • Optional 40min forest walk to a waterfall.



  • Stop at the original Aloe Ferox factory, to learn all about one of South Africa's most well known aloe plants, with a long dated history of medicinal use.



  • Return to Cape Town via the Route 60 winelands route, arriving in the afternoon.
